Dog Training: Learn the Procedures of Paper Training Your Dog for a Healthier and Cleaner Environment
The effective way to train a dog starts with house
training. The common reason why dog owners give up on their dogs and send them
to shelters is poor house training. It is important to take this training
sincerely in order to lessen the numbers of abandoned dogs and those who are
surrendered to shelters. By planning ahead and taking things little by little
will make house training a lot easier.
House training is usually
difficult to complete especially on puppies. It takes about six months old when
the puppy is able to properly house trained. Therefore, it is important to
anticipate every flaw that may arise when house training a puppy. Not until they
reached the age of six months old, puppies have no control over their bowel and
urination. Since their bodies are continuously changing and developing, it is
important for owners to house train their puppies.
It is important that owners spend more time with their
puppies while house training them. However, if this cannot be possible the puppy
should be place in a small room with a floor covered with newspapers. The room
should be free from anything that would harm or injure the puppy. It is normal
and to be expected that the puppy will eliminate anywhere inside the room as
well as play and chew the newspapers. Therefore, do not make this a reason to
punish your dog. Instead, remove the soiled newspaper and change it with the new
one. Remember, cleaning is part of house training and living with new puppy.
When a puppy is left alone in a room, he will soon start to
eliminate anywhere within the confined area. However, after sometime he will
start to eliminate in a particular area where he prefers. When he continuous to
eliminate on that preferred area, little by little remove newspapers that are
farthest from the preferred area. If he misses on the newspaper, return some
part of the newspaper. Remember to take things slowly. If the puppy is able to
eliminate in the preferred area accurately, inch by inch move the location of
the newspaper to the area where you like it to be place. If again he misses,
return it and move it gradually. If it requires you to move back from the
beginning, then you must move backward. Eventually your puppy will understand
the idea and will be able to properly done the toilet training.
Being around and spending more time with your puppy will make toilet training a lot easier. If you are around, take your dog out every 45 minutes or just right after he eats and drinks to let him do his business. If he was able to eliminate in the proper time and place, praise him. As your puppy grows, he will soon able to develop bowel and bladder control. If he gets use to toilet training, your dog will be able to spend more time outside without messing. Just make sure that when you leave the house, you put back the puppy inside the room.
