Animal care experts usually discourage giving puppies as a present especially during birthdays and holidays because according to them, the best time to receive a puppy is when there is no distractions and the family is calm and are all present. Puppies need a lot of attention and holiday season will definitely divide your attention.

Being in a new environment will mean new adjustment especially to puppies. More especially if the family who adopts him has a multi or double storey house. This means he needs to learn to climb the stair in which he is afraid. Usually, many puppies are afraid to climb the stairs because they think they do not know how to do it properly. Therefore, it is important that dog owner's need to develop or boost first the confidence of their new puppy so that in the near future he will not get afraid of trying new things.

When he is able to climb up one-step, go back from the start and repeat the entire process until the puppy has gain confidence and is able to climb the stair alone. Remember, the key to successful training is taking one-step at a time.

A collar is a thing that every puppy should learn to use and get use to because he will going to wear this for his entire life. However, wearing collar makes puppies feel awkward and uncomfortable. The most important thing to consider in choosing the right collar for your puppy is the right fit, his comfort and acceptance. There are many types of good training collars available in pet stores, however, it should not be use as substitute for a sturdy buckle type collar. Moreover, it is important to put an identification card and license in your dog's collar in case he gets separated from you.

The best way to get your puppy get accustom to his new collar is by ignoring him every time he tries to get rid of the collar. Never try to soothe him as well as punish him for trying to get rid of it. Moreover, you may use foods, toys or play with him to divert his attention.
